So, many of you that have come across this website know that I’ve been writing professionally for a couple of years but that I am generally pretty secretive about everything I write. I’ve done that, and continue doing it, for a number of reasons–none of which I regret. Not having my pseudonyms attached to my real identity has afforded me considerable freedom in sharing information with friends and family that I wouldn’t share, otherwise. But at that freedom has still come at the cost of not actually sharing the stories and characters that I’ve worked hard to create.
Well, I’m excited to say that 2015 is going to be a year of change, for me–both personally and professionally. The most significant of those changes? I’m going to begin publishing novels under this pseudonym (Mat Morris) and I will be claiming it publicly as my own. I’m terrified by it. I’m exhilarated by it. But, most importantly, I feel liberated by it. And the liberation is the one thing I’m relishing the most.
So, with liberation in mind…
I’m not only going to share my finished products, but I’m going to be sharing my work every step of the way. I’m going to achieve this by live streaming the majority of my work sessions, just as I live streamed the three 50,000 word days this past November. I will be giving, what I’m guessing is, unprecedented access into how a professional author and publisher approaches the day-to-day grind, so that anyone who is interested will be able to witness and live it, first hand.
Want to know something humorous?
I’m less scared about live streaming all of my work than I am about publishing stuff under my own name… Make of that what you will–all I know is that 2015 is going to be an incredible year.
There is a long list of other things that I’m going to be getting myself into, this year, but I’ll save those for another update, in the future. For now, it’s time for me to enjoy the last few hours of my vacation before beginning the return to Texas, tomorrow.
All my best,
