The last few weeks have been a little crazy for me. I took a spontaneous trip out to Arizona and ultimately Las Vegas for a little needed rest and relaxation. It’s important to kick back every now and then and take in everything life has to offer. Otherwise, what’s the point?
What I’m most happy about, however, is that my fuel tanks have been recharged. I spent most of March distracted and without focus. I wasn’t getting much written and it was frustrating, to say the least. But now I’m able to sit down at the desk with renewed purpose, and I’m happy to say that I’m working on a new series that I hope will be the first fully published series under my own name.
I’m not quite certain what the series will be called, but I’m very excited about it. It started as a concept that I’ve been rolling around in my head for quite a while–just the seed of a thought, barely even a premise. After sitting down last week to nurture that seed and see where it would take me, I was surprised to find myself working on something unexpected. What I had thought would be a dystopian series quickly turned into cyberpunk–a genre that has interested me since I was a kid watching “Hackers” for the first time.
I’ve spent most of this week exploring a new world, and working on the premise of what will be the first novel, still untitled. Today I sat down and began writing what will be an introductory novella–a story based on a scene that’s been in my head for quite some time. It feels good to actually be writing again. Planning is fun, but there is no substitute for getting new words on paper.
I don’t have any sort of expectation as to when I will be launching this series. I want to write 3-4 complete novels before releasing any of them, and that will take a while, to say the least. Aside from that, I’m quite the busy person over the next few months. I’ll be traveling every weekend this month, and then will be back in Arizona for the first half of June. The series may be ready for a late summer launch, but until that time draws closer I won’t be able to say with any certainty.
If you’re interested in beta reading these works before they’re available, please feel free to use the link above to signup as a beta reader. I’ll be sending out more correspondence as the appropriate time draws nearer. Until then, I hope everyone is having a wonderful spring!
